‘t Harde, 1998 …

After almost 30 years, Van West Koeltechniek is leaving Heerde.
Owner Johan Blauw is moving his company to ‘t Harde, a few kilometers away.
An easily accessible location, right next to the NS railway station and a stone’s throw from the A28 motorway.
In the new hall, Van West will have plenty of room to develop further.
The company continues to produce coolers for all kinds of applications.
Not only for food and beverages, but also for…waste processing.

Solution for high-rise buildings

Waste collection and separation has been an important issue in our society for many years.
Many households take their green, gray, blue or orange containers to the street every week, lending a hand to recycling.
In high-rise apartment buildings, things are different.
The Nijmegen company Sidcon has launched an innovative solution for this: the Freshstation.
A container for VGF waste, which is placed in the building itself.
To prevent the containers from stinking, proper cooling is of course very important.
And that’s where Van West Koeltechniek’s expertise comes in.

Bacteria and odors have no chance.

The Freshstation is really nothing more or less than a container, slightly larger than a normal wheelie bin.
But its innovative design keeps its contents refrigerated.
The walls of the container are insulated and specially coated.
The container’s cooler is inside the lid.
Together with an ionizer, the cooler ensures that the waste spoils less quickly and that bacteria and odors spread much less quickly.
Great for the residents, but also extra good for recycling the VGF waste.
The “better” the waste is, the easier it is to make compost from it.

Contributing to a sustainable world

Sustainability is a high priority at Van West Koeltechniek anyway.
Many refrigeration suppliers are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint.
We like to think along with them.
For example, by using propane as the refrigerant.
This is almost CO2 neutral.
Because of the high quality of our components, they also last extra long.
And at the end of that long life, they are almost 100% recyclable.

So Van West Koeltechniek is also doing its part in the area of sustainability.
You don’t always see it.
And the great thing is: in a solution like the Freshstation, you don’t smell it either!
And yet we can proudly say:

Van West is behind it.
